Where to start???
I am really excited to start the year so inspired and motivated with lots of ideas to really get the most use of the current technologies I have, and also to explore mobile learning devices such as ipods and tablets to better engage students and also make learning mobile and accessible to more students.
I knew about you tube and used it occasionally within my program, but I went to You too can You Tube and really got buzzing with all the different ways I could use it across the curriculum.
Here are some ways I will be using You Tube this term:
Swimming Tutorials
How to write a limerick
How to blend with paint/picasso
I am also really keen to experiment with Google Docs with the children. One great example was a collective story where the children each had a page to write within this doc. Each child must wait until the previous page has been written to be able to add to it correctly. It could be set as a home learning task for the week and then to be shared the week after in writing time.
Here is the google powerpoint from the breakout I went to about one schools journey with google docs

Hi Asri, thanks so much for sharing these links! The swimming ones in particular! I enjoyed watching the blending art clips and wondered if you could share your ideas on how you were going to tie it in with your emotions RP lessons? id love to hitch hike if thats ok?!
ReplyDeleteThanks
Of course I can. I am yet to map it our clearly but have bits & pieces of an idea based on Picaso faces paintings & colour mixing learning with a little bit of cubism art forms.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly had plenty of thoughts inspired by the sessions you went to Asri! Great to see you still getting ideas from sessions even though you'd already been accessing the technology before... ie you tube links!
ReplyDeleteI am pleased that someone as expert as you still got lots out of the Learning@Schools conference. I was a bit disappointed with my session on how to use Google Docs as a part of learning programs, so I need to explore this further. My first session looking at the different features of Google Docs was great and I feel fairly confident using most of the applications. I look forward to working with on developing our presentation on Google Docs because I am I will learn heaps. Thanks Marcus
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing those links. I will be checking out the swimming to refresh my own memory on how to teach the strokes as well as giving the kids a visual since I don't hop in myself to model. Probably one area in teaching we don't model.
ReplyDeleteYou are buzzing! I can hear it in your writing Asri. I use youtube too. It's good to show the children where animals live in their natural habitat and other experiences they wouldn't otherwise have.
