Well I am very excited about next week as our third cycle of Quadblogging starts! Our order is as follows:
Kellie - Mrs Dibattista's 4th Grade Blog
Antony - The Fantastic Year 5
us - Team 12 Vardon
Laura - Mrs Minters Class
I would like to see the kids posting more on their quad buddies blogs so I am looking at creating a roster for before school and after school (8:30 - 9am and 3pm - 3:30pm) as we often have lots to cover in our weekly ICT suite time. I'm also going to make commenting a rotatation/indepedent activity during my reading and writing programmes.
The focus is a result of the children's excitement when they get a comment on their post. It's also a result of the excitement that the children have when they put up a post that they are really proud of and want to share with the class. So I would like to pass on that excitement to another class.
I am also going to share this blog with my quad blog teachers, hopefully to share ideas and comment on each others (if they have them) as well. If it's good enough for the kids it's good enough for the teachers too.
Hi Mrs. Parkinson,
ReplyDeletegreat idea to create the schedule for commenting. I agree that the kids get so excited when they get a comment.
How long have you had student blogs attached to your main blog? Is it easy to set up? I have to wait for parental permission to create the student blogs, but it seems like overseas you have student blogs earlier than us, is there a trick? or helpful advice? thanks
Looking forward to hearing from you and your class! Your buddy, Kellie DiBattista
Hi Kellie
DeleteI will keep you posted on how the commenting schedule is working. We had production last week so any spare moment we had we were painting, sewing and all the other fun exciting madness that a production entail.
This is my second year of student blogs and class blog. Initially it can be a large task setting them up, but this year has been great because we just relinked the student blogs from their previous class to their new class instead of starting a new blog all over again.
We have Techsperx who myself and the other IT leader at our school meet with each Wednesday lunchtime. We teach the kids how to add certain gadgets to their blogs, explore the blog settings and let them explore other blogs for ideas. Sometimes the kids find stuff they want to learn about and we all learn together. We also learn about the different web 2.0 tools such as fotobabble, glogster etc. They take notes and then during their own class ICT time they teach their class (and sometimes the teacher)the new skills. It's a great way to promote leadership.
We have user agreements that we send home at the start of the year for parents to read through and sign off. I can send you a copy of ours if you would like.
How did you find your first quad blog week?
Asri
Sorry Kellie, Techsperx is a group of children from year 2 - year 6 (6 - 11 years old) who have shown an interest, skill or quick to learn attitude with IT. There is generally 2 from each class so we have a group of 22 children (our new entrant and year 1 children are Asri
DeleteHi Asri
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you connecting with the teachers in your quadblog!
Let's get more teachers at school signed up to quadblogging! ;) We get more comments which = increased motivation from chn to post and comment which = increase in writing skills + more!
